Redouan Ait Chitt, better known as Redo, is a professional breakdancer who teaches courses to young students, performs in various theatre shows, and competes in events all across the world. He is a motivational speaker, columnist, event organiser, and a university graduate in Media & Entertainment Management.
To spread his passion of dance, Redo opened his own dance school called: ROOTS Dance Studio in Gorinchem, The Netherlands.
Without any medical explanation Redo was born with several physical malformations. He has a shorter right arm, which lacks an elbow joint, and has a total of five fingers – two on the right hand and three on the left. He is also missing his right hip, has a shorter right leg, and walks with the aid of a prosthetic.
Despite these complications, Redo never allowed his situation to negatively affect his life. He is living proof to anyone who thought disabilities were a limitation that prevented you from doing what you want to do.
From a young age doctors told Redo’s parents that he needed adapted equipment in order to function well in daily life. His parents however, insisted on raising their child just like every other kid. While growing up, Redo did everything a typical kid his age would do, including participating in many types of sporting events, and activities.
THE START OF A PASSION…
At age 14, Redo spotted a group of people bboying (breakdancing) at his high school. It was love at first sight. He and a couple of friends decided to take dance classes in a community center close by, but after the first year the lessons got cancelled. Redo and his friends were left behind, barely understanding the basics of the dance. Initially, Redo had a hard time learning the basics because he wasn’t able to manage all of the steps. However, through creativity, determination, and the encouragement of his friends, he was able to create a style of his own.
In pursuit of his dreams, Redo has taken part in national and international competitions creating a name for himself in the dance community. His hard work paid off; he has received invitations from promoters and event organizers worldwide. To date, Redo has competed in countries such as England, Finland, France, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland, USA, Korea and Canada.
In April 2010, Redo became a member of the international breakdance crew: ILL-Abilities™. ILL-Abilities consists of five of the world’s best breakdancers from Canada, USA, Chile, and Holland, each having various physical or communicational limitations. Every member of the crew has taken those limitations to create their own unique style of dancing. ILL-Abilities uses motivational entertainment to encourage positive self-worth and limitless possibilities.
The goal of this team is to shatter any misconceptions that society may have towards people with disabilities. Together, they have begun a global movement of spreading their message: “No Excuses, No Limits”.

A workshop by Redo is the perfect combination of fun, exercise, creativity, motivation, and team building.
The workshop starts with an introduction to hiphop and breakdance. After a warm-up session, the basic steps of breaking will be learned. This is divided into toprocks, footworks, powermoves, and freezes.
In a cypher, a 360-degree circle that will be formed at the end of the workshop, everyone will show off his or her moves in a freestyle performance.
Redo closes his workshop with a Q&A- and photo session in order to make this into an unforgettable experience!
In 2008 Redo did his first theater performance as a main dancer for the Norwegian production: I Will Never Fix You. From there he developed his love for theater and since then performed in many theaters worldwide
Theater is the perfect place to feel free and transfer feelings created by dance to a general audience
In the present days, Redo mainly performs with his crew ILL-Abilities and their theatre show: “Limitless”.
ILL-Abilities™ is an international breakdance crew comprised of differently-abled dancers, all of whom have overcome extraordinary challenges to become some of the best dancers in the world.
“Limitless” (created fall 2012) journeys through the minds of each dancer as they illustrate their battles with adversity, stereotypes, self-doubt, and everyday insecurities. In this piece, each dancer discovers the strength to overcome life’s struggles through dynamic movement and sheer determination. Through exploring the challenges of choreography, the group discovers the power of adapting their movements together into a unique vocabulary, one that inspires limitless possibilities…
ILL-Abilities’ mission is to help redefine society’s view of disability, promote empowerment, and encourage limitless possibilities to people of all ages and all abilities.
