“I never let my situation take control over my life. Instead, I took control over my situation.” 

Without any medical explanation, Redo was born with several physical malformations. He has a shorter right arm, that lacks an elbow joint, and has a total of five fingers – two on the right and three on the left hand. He is also misses his right hip, has a shorter right leg, and walks with the aid of a prosthetic.
 

Despite all these complications, Redo never allowed his situation to negatively affect his life. Growing up however, he had to deal with a lot of prejudice from other people and faced adversity on a regular. He refused to use any kind of special equipment doctors had offered him. With ups and downs and by trial and error he discovered his true passion: Dance.
 

"They said I wouldn't be able to hold a regular pen in my hand.

Well… I did,

and now I’m writing my own story."

In pursuit of his dreams, Redo has taken part in national and international breaking competitions, becoming a household name within the dance community. His hard work paid off; he received invitations from promoters and event organizers all over the globe. To date, Redo has competed in events all across the world and travelled to over 30 countries to share his passion.

In April 2010, Redo joined the international breakdance crew: ILL-Abilities™
ILL-Abilities is an all-star team of some of the world’s best differently-abled dancers. Together they have choreographed several theatrical dance productions, which led to a 2013 Olivier Award nomination for “Outstanding Achievement in Dance”.
Next to the performances, ILL-Abilities uses motivational entertainment programs and integrated workshops to help the audience to discover tools, a mindset and a voice that will enable them to evolve and develop positive self-worth and limitless possibilities.  

 

In 2011, Redo got introduced to public speaking. Invited at the TEDxWarwick, he received an overwhelming standing ovation after his TEDxTalk. Throughout the years he has build up an impressive resume varying from educational institutions to high-end corporations and brands. 

Over the past 15 years, Redo has developed his passion into a solid career, working together with some of the best in the industry.

 

In 2018 his solo show ‘REDO’ premiered in theatres. In 2019 he wrote history by winning the most prestigious dance award of The Netherlands,

“The Swan”, being the first autodidact hip-hop dancer ever to win such an award.

​To date, Redo performs in (theatre) shows,

(TV) productions and gives workshops and motivational lectures about living life to the fullest. When he is not traveling the world for a speech or show, he does a lot of work for and with youth and government authorities in The Netherlands.
